Frequently Asked Questions

ABOUT LIZ

01 - Who Are You?

I'm liz harrington, author, mentor, coach and somatic therapist. For the last fifteen years i've helped women rebuild after financial upheaval, trauma and relationship breakdown. I've lived a fair amount of what i write and coach about myself: a marriage, a separation, and the eighteen months that followed it taught me everything i wish someone had told me first.

These days life looks different again. My ex is not a constant problem thanks to the work i’ve done and the boundaries i’ve implemented. My kids are teenagers now, mostly busy living their own lives, which is exactly as it should be. I have an amazing partner and we have the calm, equal, supportive and loving relationship i once thought was for others but not for me. I've spent the years since my own upheaval turning what i learned into a body of work that tries to reach people earlier, before crisis, not just after it.

02 - Are you a therapist? What are your qualifications?

I'm not a psychotherapist or counsellor in the traditional sense.
My approach is different. Rather than relying primarily on talking things through, i combine trauma-informed coaching with powerful somatic techniques that help regulate the nervous system and release deeply held emotional trauma, programming and patterns. My role is to actively guide you through that process, helping you uncover and change what's really driving your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, while gently challenging and supporting you every step of the way.

My passion is helping people create genuine, lasting transformation, not simply an intellectual understanding of why they feel the way they do.

After a career in corporate hr, training & leadership development, i trained as an eft (emotional freedom techniques or "tapping") level 3 practitioner, accredited by eft international, and as a tapping into wealth coach under margaret lynch in the united states. I am also a trauma-informed narcissistic abuse recovery coach and have completed extensive additional training through the school of trauma-informed positive psychology, alongside many other specialist courses in trauma and mind-body healing.

03 - Why do you combine coaching with EFT and somatic work, rather than just one or the other?

Because on their own, neither is enough. I'm trained and qualified in eft, but what i bring alongside it is the coaching: the ability to ask the searching, gentle (and sometimes, with permission, the more direct) questions that connect the dots between what you're feeling now and where it actually started. That's often the piece that's missing. Anyone qualified in a healing modality has a genuine gift, but i've always wanted to go a step further, which is why you'll usually leave a session with something to carry forward, not just something you felt in the room. You're not investing in a single technique. You're investing in your future self.

04 - How long have you been doing this?

For fifteen years. I've helped thousands of clients overcome trauma, anxiety, narcissistic abuse and other deeply rooted emotional challenges by combining professional training with extensive real-world experience and a range of tailored somatic healing modalities.

Many of my clients come to me after years of traditional therapy because, although they understand why they feel the way they do, they still don't feel free of the patterns holding them back. My work is designed to bridge that gap, so you don't just understand your past, you can finally move beyond it.

05 - What's your own story, and why should I trust you with this?

I'm not writing or coaching from theory. I've been the woman who didn't ask the hard questions until it was too late to ask them comfortably. I've done my own healing work, made my own money mistakes, and rebuilt from a version of "starting again" that i wouldn't wish on anyone unprepared. Everything i teach, i've tested on myself first.

GETTING STARTED, WHICH PATH IS RIGHT FOR ME?

06 - I Don't Know Where To Start. How Do I Choose?

That's completely normal, and it's exactly what the discovery call is for. Most people arrive at one of two doors: "i need to understand something before it becomes a problem" (start with the book or before you give it all away), or "i'm already in it, and i need support" (start with the missing peace, you unwritten or divorce & separation coaching). If you're not sure which, book a call and we'll figure it out together.

07 - What's the difference between the book, the experience, The Missing Peace and You, Unwritten

Think of them as stages, not a strict ladder:
  • Money, Marriage & Motherhood, the book. Education and awareness. Read it in your own time, at your own pace.
  • Before You Give It All Away, an 8-week guided experience that turns the book's ideas into action.
  • The Missing Peace, 1:1 healing work. For processing and releasing what's underneath the surface: trauma, money fear, old patterns.
  • You, Unwritten, bespoke mentoring. For once the healing has done its job and it's time to build what's next.

08 - Do I need to read the book first, or do the 8-week experience first?

No. Some people read the book cover to cover before doing anything else. Some skip straight to 1:1 work because that's what they need right now. There's no wrong door.

09 - Can I go straight to 1:1 work without doing the book or the group experience?

Yes. Plenty of people do. The staged structure exists to help you find your footing, not to gatekeep the deeper work.

10 - What if I'm not in crisis, is this still for me?

Genuinely, yes, maybe especially yes. Most of what i do exists because i want to reach people before crisis, not just afterwards. If something feels slightly off, or you just want to be prepared rather than caught out, that's a good reason to start, not a reason to wait.

MONEY, MARRIAGE & MOTHERHOOD (THE BOOK)

11 - Is This Book Only For Women Going Through Divorce?

No. It's for anyone who wants honest conversations about money, marriage and motherhood before life forces those conversations on them. Divorce is one of the situations it prepares you for, but far from the only one.

12 - My partner isn't interested in this stuff, should I still read it?

Yes. In fact, most of what's in here benefits both people in a relationship, even if only one of you reads it first. Several of the ideas work best as conversation starters, you might find it opens doors rather than closing them.

13 - Is this an anti-men book?

No. I'm a feminist, and this book has zero interest in blaming men. It's about partnership, honest conversation, and making sure nobody, of any gender, ends up starting from zero. Men who've read it have told me it's changed how they think, too.

14 - What if I'm not married, is this still relevant?

Yes. Long-term relationships, cohabiting, blended families, the money and identity questions in this book apply far beyond a marriage certificate. If anything, some of the legal protections people assume exist, like "common law spouse," are myths worth knowing about before you need them.

BEFORE YOU GIVE IT ALL AWAY (THE 8-WEEK EXPERIENCE)

15 - How Much Time Does This Take Each Week?

About 1 hour a week, but go at your own pace. The live calls every two weeks are the ones you want to make sure to attend if you possibly can. They aren't recorded in their entirety, for confidentiality reasons, although some parts of them may be shared and/or a summary afterwards may be posted in the membership platform.

16 - Is this done alone or as part of a group?

A perfect blend. 8 pre-recorded but interactive modules, plus the magical live conversations every 2 weeks.

17 - What if I fall behind during the 8 weeks?

No problem. This experience has been designed for you to take at your own speed, and you'll likely want to revisit some modules, some perhaps multiple times. There are no prizes for perfect students, because there's no such thing.

THE MISSING PEACE & SOMATIC / EFT WORK

18 - What Actually Happens In A Session?

Together we identify what's really driving what you're feeling: the anxiety, the self-doubt, the procrastination, the pattern you can't seem to shift. Then we use somatic and eft-based release work to clear it, not just manage it around the edges. You'll still remember what happened to you. What changes is that it stops running your life.

19 - Do I need "proper" trauma for this to be relevant, or is everyday anxiety and self-doubt enough?

Everyday is enough. You don't need a diagnosis or a dramatic backstory to know that something isn't sitting right. Most of what shows up as anxiety, people-pleasing or self-sabotage traces back to something that was simply never given the space to heal, and that space is what this work provides.

20 - How many sessions will I need?

The missing peace typically runs as 6 or 12 sessions, depending on what you're working through. We'll talk about which fits during your discovery call. Occasionally, some clients may need more sessions, but usually by 6 or 12 they're ready to graduate into the you, unwritten experience.

21 - Is this counselling or therapy?

Not in the traditional talk-therapy sense. It draws on somatic work and eft (tapping) rather than purely conversational processing. If you're currently working with a therapist or counsellor, this can sit alongside that, and i'm always happy to talk about how.

22 - What is EFT Tapping, and is it still part of your work?

Early in my career i was known as the eft coach, and eft (emotional freedom technique, or "tapping") is still one of the tools i use in the missing peace, alongside somatic work and the stoic-informed principles behind everything i do. It's a technique that combines gentle physical tapping on specific points with acknowledging and voicing what you're feeling, which helps calm the nervous system and process emotion that's got stuck. It's no longer the whole toolkit, but it's still a powerful part of it when it's the right fit for what you're working through.

23 - Do you use any other techniques alongside EFT and somatic work?

Yes. Depending on what's right for you, i also draw on other techniques such as chair work and lineage-based healing, always with your full comfort and consent. I work intuitively, drawing on whichever approach will genuinely serve what you're working through, informed by our discovery call and the picture we build together from there. Nothing is ever used without you feeling completely comfortable with it, and any cultural or religious beliefs or boundaries you hold are always respected.

24 - Do I need to talk about everything, in detail, for this to work?

No. You're always in control of how much detail you share, and often it isn't necessary. The work is about what's underneath, not about performing a full retelling, plenty of progress happens without you needing to relive everything out loud.

Re-telling your story, as is sometimes encouraged in traditional counselling, can even sometimes be re-traumatising, and without the coaching aspect, things can stay stuck. That's part of why so many people come to me after not feeling satisfied by counselling alone. I'm passionate about true change and transformation, which is why i feel blessed not to have to work within the confines of traditional therapeutic and counselling models.

25 - Can I just try a single session to see if this is for me?

I don't offer one-off mini sessions, and that's deliberate. This work can create a huge shift in a single session, that's part of what makes it so powerful, but that's also the risk. It's easy to feel better about a presenting issue without getting anywhere near the real cause, and i'm not interested in offering something that feels good in the moment but doesn't last.

Think of it like a wound. I don't want to put a plaster over it because that feels quicker. I want it properly cleaned, treated and cared for, so it heals well. Done properly, the scars that remain are ones you can wear with pride, not ones that catch you out again in six months. That's why every relationship starts with a discovery call, so we can be honest with each other about what you actually need, whether that's with me or somewhere else.

26 - Will this work for me if I have ADHD, or another diagnosis?

Yes. I'm undiagnosed suspected adhd myself, and i work with plenty of clients who are diagnosed, undiagnosed, or navigating other mental, emotional or physical conditions. Every client is different regardless, so this doesn't change how we work together. A discovery call is the best way to check we're a genuine fit, and if for any reason i'm not the right person to help, i'll always point you towards someone who can.

YOU, UNWRITTEN (MENTORING)

27 - How Is This Different From The Missing Peace?

The missing peace is where healing happens. You, unwritten is what comes after, for when the old patterns have been processed and it's time to build, deliberately, what comes next. Some people arrive here having done healing work with me, others arrive having done it elsewhere entirely.

28 - I haven't done any healing work before, can I still start here?

If you already feel clear, grounded and ready to build rather than process, yes. If you're not sure, that's exactly what a discovery call is for, we'll figure out honestly whether this or the missing peace is the better starting point.

29 - What does a mentoring partnership actually look like, day to day?

There's no fixed script or one-size-fits-all programme. It's shaped entirely around where you are and where you want to go: sustained, honest partnership while you author what's next, on your terms.

DIVORCE & SEPARATION

30 - I haven't started the legal process yet, is it too early to talk to you?

No. In fact, earlier is usually better. Practical, emotional and financial preparation before things become adversarial can change the entire experience.

31 - Do you give legal or financial advice?

Not directly, no. Divorce & separation, rewritten is delivered through family flow: the divorce collective and connects you with the practical, legal and financial guidance you need alongside the emotional support.

32 - Is this just for women?

The divorce sisterhood community is specifically for women, but the broader support and guidance is there for anyone navigating separation.

PRACTICAL

33 - How much do things cost?

Click on the link for the book to purchase at the current price.

Before you give it all away is priced at just £67 and could be the best investment you ever make.

The missing peace (6 sessions) is usually priced at £1,400, but upfront investments for 12 sessions receive a discount, and payment plans are available.

You, unwritten is priced on a bespoke basis, as it is a bespoke programme.

34 - Are sessions online or in person?

I use zoom, and we can record calls or elements of them. Each client receives a summary after their call, with action steps and key information.

35 - Is anything I share with you confidential?

Yes. What you share with me stays between us.
It's also why i don't record the live group calls in their entirety, so members feel confident to share openly and honestly.

36 - How do I book a call?

You can book a deep dive discovery call directly here, it's £97, fully credited against any programme you go on to book:

37 - Where can I find client testimonials?

You'll find them on the testimonials & media page, alongside podcasts and interviews i've featured on.
